Welcome to a quick Pit Stop #8. As we are getting close to end our Summer journey, we have mostly reviewed what we previously reviewed 🙂
Exploring the decimal system – We reviewed ordinal numbers with a Anno book (here).
Word problems – Nothing formal this week.
Measuring – We continued our discussion about what we could measure: length, capacity, mass, but also time. Just informally throughout the week, as daily examples would come through. Driving miles and miles, or checking the deepend of the pool. I will write a post on Time in the coming days.
Classifying / representing data – During Summer, Rosie seemed to enjoy sorting and classifying different items, such as buttons, marbles, hardware, etc. As we were spending few days away, we kept sorting all kind of things we could find. Rocks on the bank of a river, leaves at the park, counting how many items we had in each group, etc. But what I would like to show her before the end of Summer is a graph. A graph that would talk to her, a data represention to make a link to the various classifications she has been doing. Newspapers, commercial, sports, healthcare, etc, data representation is indeed all around ! I just need to find the right example ! Stay tuned !
